The Believer & The Bible

The Word holds solutions to problems and answers to questions but we would never know this unless we open it and dive in. The Word sustains us in some of our most difficult and darkest times by bringing comfort. In 2021 I lost my two oldest siblings weeks a part. I was believing for their healing and when they passed I shut down. I couldn’t pray, I couldn’t read but because of what I had read and heard over the years the scriptures were coming back to me to bring comfort.

Thank God For Me!

Through good and bad decisions I am fearfully and wonderfully made, despite what I consider shortfalls I am the wonderful handiwork of the creator of the universe.

One of the ways I’ve shifted my thinking is by creating a daily list of “I am proud of you for...” prompts during my journaling time. Each day I thank God for three things and then I write down three things I’m proud of myself for.

Thank God For Life

The abundant life talked about in John 10:10 means that we live a full fulfilled life with deep meaning not in things but from the peace and steadiness that comes from knowing the creator of the universe.

We’ve experienced a lot over the pass two years in The Bahamas with the passage of hurricane Dorian and then the pandemic but even in the midst of that despair God wants us to experience an abundant life. The state of living in peace, joy and fulfillment regardless of the circumstances around us.

Thank God For Music

When God first dropped in my spirit that today we will be thankful for music I laughed. I thought it such a trivial thing to be thankful for. Then I thought what would the world look, feel and be like without music. I needed only to look at my one year old daughter who every day comes home with a new song to share with me to realize how much of an impact music has.

Going further I went back to 1 Samuel 16 when David played the harp for Saul to drive away the evil spirits that tormented him.

The Blessing Of Spiritual Leaders

From youth leaders to my big sisters, coworkers to college professors I thank God for those who made an impact on my life through their words, actions and obedience to His voice.

Think back on a moment where the advice of a church mother, your teacher, an older sibling, or your pastors seemed to be the breathed out word of God for your situation in that moment. Recognize that God loves you so much that he places people in your life to shape and mold you into the you he needs you to be to impact the world.

God Bless The Little Children

Today as we celebrate children and thank God for them let’s vow to learn a lesson each day from them. Observe your child, niece, cousin or neighbor and look at them through God’s eyes, the way he must be looking down at you. What do you see? What can you learn.

Grateful For God’s Church

I’m grateful for the assembling of the saints and I’m also grateful that we were barred from assembling because it was in that moment Mark 16:15 came to life in a greater way. “ And he said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature.”

The importance of the church locally and internationally can not be understated and today I am thankful for the church in all its forms.

TGFR- Thank God For Rest

In order to be your best you must rest. Even God on the seventh day took a step back to appreciate all he had created and he rested. God created us, he knows how our bodies work and has ordained rest to be part of our everyday routine.

Grateful for my Enemies

Our enemies often challenges, pokes at our imperfections, and points out our insecurities. Those things often hurt us to our core but along with forgiving the person and praying for them that God would change their heart we should always look at the lesson that they are teaching us.

Thank God For Small Victories

As I reflected on some of the small victories that I have accomplished I couldn’t help but give thanks for the Lord‘s faithfulness and compassion towards me, for it would have been impossible to be successful without him.

Grateful For Grace

When God says "my power is made perfect in your weakness" He is indicating to us that it is not through our own strength that we have power, but our power comes through him. Power to live righteously, power to love the people that are hard to love, power to overcome life's challenges, power to spread the gospel, and yes power to embrace your flaws. That power comes from God and is given to us to complete His will.
