TGFR- Thank God For Rest

“I’ll refresh tired bodies; I’ll restore tired souls.”

‭‭Jeremiah‬ ‭31:25‬ ‭MSG‬‬

Believe it or not rest is the hardest thing for me to do. For as long as I remember I’ve been involved in at least three to four clubs or projects at once. Being busy for equated to being successful, productive and useful. Even on off days I’d find little things around the house to do. I fully understood the “no days off assignment”.

But I no longer subscribe to that. In order to be your best you must rest. Even God on the seventh day took a step back to appreciate all he had created and he rested. God created us, he knows how our bodies work and has ordained rest to be part of our everyday routine.

I challenge you today to take an hour to unplug from it all mind, body and spirit. No technology, no worrying about work or chores. If you want use this time to connect with God through nature. Go for a hike, a swim or simply lay on the grass and admire the sky. The goal is to reflect and give thanks to God for all He’s done and then to rest and relish in it.

I love this verse in Jeremiah where God is promising to refresh and restore his people. It’s a promise I cling to today, knowing that my rest is just as important to God as the mission he’s placed me on. Let us know how it goes.
