God Bless The Little Children
“And he said: “Truly I tell you, unless you change and become like little children, you will never enter the kingdom of heaven. Therefore, whoever takes the lowly position of this child is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven. And whoever welcomes one such child in my name welcomes me. “If anyone causes one of these little ones—those who believe in me—to stumble, it would be better for them to have a large millstone hung around their neck and to be drowned in the depths of the sea.”
Matthew 18:3-6 NIV
Have you ever sat on a playground and watched children play. It’s more entertaining than reality tv, it’s also a lesson in life and love. As I think about Jesus’ admonishment to be come as little children I think about my two year old. She’s such a bundle of joy. She like many children have no bounds on love. Whether I’ve just read to her, played with her or disciplined her she always remains constant; loving and kind.
Children are the example of how our hearts posture should be and I’m so grateful for the illustration of purity, innocence and unconditional love they represent.
I had the task of speaking to a school of 200 students today as they celebrated religious studies week. Even over zoom I could feel their energy, excitement and pure untamed candor, especially when the unmuted their mics to answer what I thought were rhetorical questions.
Today as we celebrate children and thank God for them let’s vow to learn a lesson each day from them. Observe your child, niece, cousin or neighbor and look at them through God’s eyes, the way he must be looking down at you. What do you see? What can you learn.
After you’ve applied that lesson to your life vow to protect them and train them. Around the world and especially here at home in the last few weeks we’ve seen unspeakable acts of violence against children and it’s heartbreaking. But we can do something about it.
Pray, protect and advocate. Pray for those in abusive homes, protect those in your home and advocate for those who are voiceless.
I hope you have a wonderful day, let me know how your observation of the little ones goes, blessings.
